Solaris – National Synchrotron Radiation Center

The aim of the project is to create a new laboratory for electron cryomicroscopy, which is a necessary complement to the current TITAN Krios cryomicroscope. Thanks to this, the first comprehensive laboratory in Poland of cryomicroscopy TEM (from preparation of samples to solving protein structures) will be available to all interested research units and business entities in the country and cooperating with the best scientific centres in Europe and worldwide. Electron Cryomicroscopy is currently the most important research technique in the field of structural biology, awarded the Nobel Prize in 2017. The implementation of the project will consist, inter alia, of: equipping the laboratory with a GLACIOS class cryomicroscope; equipping the laboratory with the Data Center, which is necessary for the processing of data from the microscope – solving protein structures, introducing into the laboratory’s offer a full range of services in the field of solving protein structures with high resolution by supplementing the offer with the so-called screening of samples (confirming the ability of the sample to further measurements with high resolution) and the construction of infrastructure for analysis and interpretation of measurement data. The investment is located in Solaris National Synchrotron Radiation Center.
