Purchase of 50 zero-emission electric buses to operate the Urban Transport system in Krakow

Geographical scope: the project will be implemented in Krakow. Material scope: the project includes the purchase of 50 electric articulated buses with plug-in chargers. The vehicles will be directed to the implementation of bus passenger transport as part of the urban transport system in Krakow on lines no.: • 179: OS. Kurdwanów – Central Station West (13 buses), • 144: Rżaka – Prądnik Biały (17 buses), • 173: New Trains South – Azores (14 buses), • 503: Nowy Bieżanów Południe – Górka Narodowa East (6 buses, partly electrified line, other buses directed to operate the line will meet at least the Euro VI exhaust emission standard). Buses will be stationed at Wola Duchack’s Bus Service Station, where their energy storages will be charged using plug-in mobile chargers (so-called free charging). The loaders will be supplied by the rolling stock manufacturer as an essential piece of equipment. In addition, buses will use pantograph recharging points located at the end of the routes (lines). They will allow for fast loading of buses during the stop (without the need to go to the depot), which will allow better use of the rolling stock. Pantograph recharging points have been built by MPK and are currently used by 26 electric buses operated by the carrier. The implementation of the project will result in the withdrawal of 42 articulated buses with diesel and Euro V emission standards currently operated on electrification lines.
