The project referred to as the Health Food Marketing Notification System is a response to the needs identified by the Applicant both for citizens using the resources of the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate, entrepreneurs who are customers of the State Sanitary Inspectorate and their own needs of the Inspectorate. The project will be a central project aimed at a wide range of stakeholders. Health-promoting foods, which are covered by the notification obligation, are highly popular among consumers. Currently used, the notification model due to the avalanche increase in the number of notifications of the first placing on the market of these products has become inefficient. Out of approx. 82000 notifications sent to the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) approx. 41000 has been analysed so far. Unfortunately, some of the products placed on the market do not meet the criteria for foodstuffs. Starting up on the market for food supplements is relatively simple and some entrepreneurs, unaware of all the regulations in force, place on the market products that are not in compliance with the applicable food law, are exposed to loss of image, administrative sanctions and even criminal penalties. It happens that novel foods or products that should be placed as medicinal products are placed on the market. Products imported from abroad contain non-authorised forms of vitamins or minerals in the EU. It also happens that the product contains ingredients prohibited in food. Such situations shall be prevented by a notification system. The e-services introduced as part of the project will significantly reduce the time of detailed analysis of notifications submitted to the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate, as well as facilitate the use of data provided by this authority.
