Exchange of high-carbon heat sources in buildings and residential premises in selected municipalities of the Wałbrzych Agglomeration

The objective of this project is to reduce emissions of air pollutants from the combustion of solid fuels in individual heating installations in selected municipalities of the Wałbrzych Agglomeration. This is a grant project and will consist of grants awarded by the grantor for projects implemented in single-family and multi-family residential buildings for the exchange of carbon-intensive heat sources for connection to the district heating network, installations using renewable heat sources, biomass boilers or possibly gaseous fuels, electric heating. The project will be implemented in 2020-2022 in the following municipalities of Lower Silesia: The City of Świdnica, Boguszów-Gorce, Dobromierz, Głuszyca, Jaworzyna Śląska, Marcinowice, Mieroszów, Nowa Ruda, City Nowa Ruda, Strzegom, Świebodzice, Świdnica, Walim, the City of Wałbrzych, Żarów. It plans to modernise a total of at least 637 heat sources, which should translate into an annual decrease in PM 10 emissions of 14.34 tonnes and an annual decrease in PM 2.5 emissions of 11.13 tonnes. In addition, it will tackle climate change with a planned reduction of 2 810 tonnes of CO2-equivalent. The project will be implemented in partnership of 15 entities. Its leader is the Municipality of the City of Świdnica, the other partners of the above-mentioned municipalities. Together, they act as a grant provider, who is responsible for the implementation, management and monitoring of the grant project during the sustainability period. The grants will be natural persons who own single-family houses or apartments in single-family and multi-family houses, as well as housing communities (in the area of dwellings owned by natural persons), who will also act as operators of the infrastructure created by the project. In turn, all residents of the above-mentioned and neighbouring municipalities who, thanks to its implementation, will be able to breathe better air quality will be the recipients of the project’s effects.
