The project focuses on prevention measures targeting 5187 people working in sectors and areas most at risk of tick-borne diseases, i.e. forestry, agriculture, fisheries and hunting from the Luban, Kłodzkie, Jeleniogórskie, Kamienna Góra, Wałbrzyskie and Volów districts. The project will be implemented in accordance with the provisions and objectives of the Lower Silesia Regional Health Programme for the prevention of tick-borne diseases and on the basis of epidemiological and statistical data contained therein. The main objective of the project is to reduce the number of cases of tick-borne diseases (Lyme-boreliosis and tick-borne encephalitis) in professionally exposed to ticks from the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in the years 2021-2022. As part of the project, the following forms of support are planned:- a wide-ranging information and education campaign – aimed at raising public awareness of tick diseases and problems associated with them;- educational activities – in the form of lectures addressed to employees of the above sectors of activity, aimed at increasing awareness of the need for vaccination and raising awareness of the consequences of tick diseases,- preventive vaccination – preceded by appropriate medical consultations to assess whether the patient’s state of health allows vaccination; vaccines themselves are intended to increase the safety of workers in these sectors of local economies, which are most vulnerable to tick-punch and potential illness, thereby increasing their working lives.
