Innovative phosphorus recovery technologies for Polish wastewater treatment plants

The project involves simultaneously implementing two celów:1.Opracowanie innovative technology for the recovery of phosphorus from sewage sludge for taking into account the specificities of Polish waste water treatment plants2.Developing a model for the selection and implementation of phosphorus recovery technologies in Polish wastewater treatment plantsBoth objectives will be achieved by carrying out comprehensive tasks allowing to create from scratch and develop analytical procedures for the selection of the technology and at the same time develop a new technology, its development and examination based on the developed procedures. The research will use known pathways for phosphorus recovery and a completely new concept based on the specificity of technologies used in national wastewater treatment plants. Based on the balance sheet analysis and the analysis of the recovery potential, a detailed test procedure will be developed and existing recovery methods will be selected for further analysis. Comparative industrial studies of the different methods will be carried out along with the innovative process being developed. The tests will be carried out under laboratory conditions and, on the basis of the results obtained, tests on a semi-technical scale will be carried out using pilot stations produced by the research project. The aim of this research phase is to confirm the feasibility of the development work and to develop its programme and detailed technological guidelines. As part of the industrial studies, full-scale tests will be carried out on existing waste water treatment plants using the infrastructure generated by the project. Industrial research aims to confirm the effectiveness of the developed technology and its readiness to implement it. At the end of the research phase, a model for the selection and deployment of phosphorus recovery technologies for wider use in national waste water treatment plants will be developed based on the results of each task.
