The project aims to improve the quality of public transport in the city of Suwałki. The project assumes: — purchase of 4 low-carbon CNG buses with a length of approx. 10,5 m; — implementation of an urban public bicycle system, including: 4 bicycle stations with terminals and 40 bicycles including electric bicycles and 1 tandem; — construction of infrastructure to handle urban transport and improve passenger safety (extension of ul. Hospital including, inter alia, the construction of a cycle path and a sidewalk, a bus bay with a stop along with technical infrastructure); — purchase of a dynamic passenger information system/ITS (4 electronic boards at stops); — information and educational activities concerning the popularisation and promotion of public transport, low- and zero-emission transport, public bicycle system (European Day without Car, Environmental Festine, leaflets on the promotion of clean transport) The activities planned under the project will contribute to improving air quality in the city of Suwałki by reducing pollution such as: CO2, CO, NOx, HC, PM and other harmful compounds. Replacing old and non-compliant vehicles with low-emission credits will contribute to reducing CO2 emissions by 9.74 %. The purchase of modern rolling stock combined with the urban bicycle system will lead to a lasting change in the mobility patterns of residents, a reduction in congestion and noise reduction.
