The aim of the project is to build a backyard wastewater treatment plant infrastructure that will improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of the municipality, as well as allow for the further dynamic development of tourism with respect to the environment. The need to implement the project is due to the needs of the Municipality of Cisna in terms of ensuring environmental safety for both residents and the environment. The need to implement the project is mainly due to the growing number of inhabitants in the municipality, as well as the increasing number of visitors to these areas of tourists. Since 2015, this number has doubled, reaching 150 720 people in 2018. This results in an increase in the amount of domestic waste water. A key problem with the treatment of domestic waste water generated through the sewerage system is limited access to it by residents. This is due to the large dispersion of households in the municipality and the low population density. According to the Water Law Act, where the construction of sewerage systems would not benefit the environment or cause excessive costs, individual schemes or other solutions ensuring environmental protection should be used. The outdated and inefficient infrastructure for individual wastewater management in the area of wastewater tanks is also an important problem in the area of Cisna Municipality. Due to their long-term exploitation, leaks or transfers to the ground and waters are more and more frequent. The object of the project is the purchase together with the installation of 134 backyard sewage treatment plants and carrying out an information and promotion campaign, which will allow the residents of the municipality to develop ecological attitudes.
