The economy of Eastern Wielkopolska, and in particular the Konin sub-region, is strongly linked to the energy sector. At present, the development of this area is threatened by the anticipated restriction of the activity of its main economic entity – Grupa Elektrowni Pątnów-Adamów-Konin (ZE PAK). This threat stems from the depletion of lignite stocks and, as a consequence, the reduction in the capacity to produce energy, which is the main source of the Group’s profits. The Group’s situation will translate into the economic slowdown of the area, mainly through the loss of well-paid jobs and a fall in income for municipalities. This will have tangible consequences for all its inhabitants, reducing the level of public services and the quality of life. The response to this threat is this project, which involves the implementation of activities of a comprehensive system of management of economic and investment promotion of the Konin sub-region and strengthening the economic potential of Eastern Wielkopolska, mainly in its strategic areas. The direct goal is to improve the investment attractiveness and socio-economic development of the Konin sub-region, through the development of a comprehensive system of management of economic and investment promotion of the region and creating conditions for internationalisation of economic activity and development of cooperation networks with foreign entities. The implementation of the main objective will be achieved thanks to the implementation of output indicators: 1. Number of international information and promotional projects supported – 30 national units – 28 pcs.2. Number of trade fairs and exhibitions – 9 pcs.3. Number of analyses prepared – 2 pcs. The final beneficiaries that will benefit from the products produced under the individual actions of the project will be SMEs that are currently active or are planning to invest in the Konin sub-region and are mainly active in RIS areas.
