Demining, restoration and protection of forests and forest land in protected and Natura 2000 areas in the Danube region — Naturadravina

Safeguarding Biodiversity and Enhancing Safety in the Danube Region

Overview: The Naturadravina project focuses on the demining, restoration, and protection of forests and forest lands within protected and Natura 2000 areas in the Danube region. By addressing landmine contamination and promoting ecological restoration, the project aims to enhance biodiversity, ensure public safety, and support sustainable land use.

Objectives:

  1. Landmine Clearance: Systematically remove landmines from affected forest areas to eliminate hazards to humans and wildlife.
  2. Ecological Restoration: Rehabilitate demined areas to restore natural habitats and promote biodiversity.
  3. Forest Protection: Implement measures to safeguard restored areas from future threats and ensure sustainable management.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive Demining Operations: Utilize advanced technologies and methodologies to detect and safely remove landmines.
  • Habitat Restoration Initiatives: Reforest cleared areas with native species and restore natural ecosystems.
  • Community Engagement: Involve local communities in restoration efforts and raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity conservation.

Target Audience:

  • Local Communities: Residents living in or near affected areas who benefit from increased safety and restored natural resources.
  • Environmental Organizations: Groups dedicated to conservation and ecological restoration.
  • Policy Makers: Authorities responsible for land management, environmental protection, and regional development.

Impact: The project aims to clear significant areas of landmines, thereby reducing risks to human life and enabling the return of displaced communities. Ecological restoration efforts are expected to enhance biodiversity, improve ecosystem services, and contribute to the overall environmental health of the Danube region.
