The general objective of the project is the rehabilitation in Iasi Municipality of the infrastructure and superstructure of the tram taxiway on the route between Bucşinescu – Tudor Vladimirescu Boulevard – the intersection of Chişinău Calea, including Tudor Vladimirescu Bridge and the purchase of rolling stock, thus contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions in the municipality through investments based on the IASI SUMP. The aim of the project is to create an efficient and attractive public transport system that serves the inhabitants of Iasi in a balanced way. By the nature of the general objective, the investment targeted by the project foresees, on the section between Bucşinescu – Tudor Vladimirescu Boulevard – the intersection of Calea Chisinaului, including Tudor Vladimirescu Bridge, measures to improve the efficiency of public passenger transport, its frequency and journey times, contributing to the achievement of the objectives of Priority Axis 4 Supporting sustainable urban development, Investment Priority 4e: Promoting low-carbon strategies for all types of territories, in particular for urban areas, including the promotion of sustainable multimodal urban mobility and mitigation-relevant adaptation measures, Specific Objective 4.1: Reducing carbon emissions in municipalities of county residence through investments based on sustainable urban mobility plans under the Regional Operational Programme (ROP) 2014-2020, as follows: 1. 0 electric tram at the beginning of project implementation and 7 trams purchased at the end of project implementation 2. 0 ml of rehabilitated tram line at the beginning of project implementation 2410,00 ml rehabilitated tram line (simple taxiway) at the end of project implementation 3. Estimated annual greenhouse gas decrease (tonnes CO2/year) on the route analysed with: — 0 Tons (Total emissions estimated 2.159 Tone CO2/year) in the first year of implementation of the respective project 2018-2.71 % respectively 55.91 Tone (from 2061.1 Tons to 2005,3 Tone CO2/year) for the first year after the completion of the implementation of the respective project 2022-2.64 % respectively 50.9 Tone (from 1929.9 Tone to 1879.0 Tone CO2/year) for the last year of the durability period of the financing contract, i.e. 2026 4. The estimated increase in the number of passengers transported in public passenger transport built/upgraded/extended as follows: 0 % 0 passengers (992.800 passengers of electric vehicles passing through the analysed section – average value) for the first year of implementation of the project 2018-7.48 %, i.e. 81.273 passengers for the first year after the completion of the project implementation – 2022-7.22 %, i.e. 78.840 passengers in the last year of the sustainability period of the financing contract and 2026 5.
