Increasing the attractiveness of the educational offer of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University in Iasi in relation to the labor market and competitive economic sectors, by improving the educational infrastructure as a result of strengthening and refunctioning the O building, until 31 December 2023 to create a collection of libraries and archives to capitalise on the institution’s book fund. The project aims to capitalise on the potential of a building with a built area of 708 sqm, under its own management and which presents itself in a state of advanced degradation, through consolidation, rehabilitation, modernisation and by equipping the spaces in order to establish a library to gather the book fund of the faculty branches, in one space, to serve its readers. By creating this collection of libraries in a building and releasing the spaces currently occupied by the library branches of the faculties will increase the size of the teaching space that can be made available to the students. Students will benefit from such attractive study and reading conditions and will be more motivated to continue and complete university studies. The “hard” investments proposed through the project, indispensable to create a stimulating educational environment, aim to increase the institutional capacity and performance of our university to provide qualitative and relevant educational services to an even larger number of students. The objective of the project contributes to the achievement of the specific objective 10.3 of Priority Axis 10 “Increasing the relevance of tertiary university education in relation to the labor market and competitive economic sectors” by the fact that the investment in existing infrastructure promises to increase the attractiveness of our university. Especially since the university is a prestigious one, with an increased ability to match its educational offer with the requirements of the labor market. This approach generates added value not only to our student and institution, but also to the city and region, which will capitalise on the potential of students – the most precious resource for sustainable development.
