Integrated ecological public transport system in Suceava

The general objective of the project is to promote sustainable urban mobility by modernising, rehabilitating and expanding electric public transport routes and implementing an integrated traffic management system, based on innovative solutions for improving the efficiency of public transport in order to increase its attractiveness to the detriment of personal cars, which will implicitly lead to the reduction of pollution in Suceava Municipality. The project will contribute to the achievement of specific objective 4.1 “Reduction of carbon emissions in municipalities of county residence through investments based on sustainable urban mobility plans”. The main problems identified at municipal level, in terms of road traffic on public transport lines, are the following: The high degree of use of the personal vehicle for internal movements; — The maintenance in service of means of transport the age of which exceeds the normal service life; — The year of manufacture of the car fleet, which negatively influences the impact on the environment (pollution rule within which the vehicle falls); — Lack of clear and up-to-date information on public transport by the traveller. Thus, the main objective of this project is to create an efficient, environmentally friendly public transport system that will reduce CO2 emissions and streamline road traffic. Through the implementation of the project, there will be an efficient, environmentally friendly and modern public transport system in Suceava, which will not generate quantities of carbon dioxide and pollutant emissions discharged into the atmosphere. At the same time, the safety and security of passengers in the stations will be improved, by fitting them with shelters, furniture, video surveillance system, etc. Passenger flows using public transport are the result of the interaction between public transport demand and the offer related to this mode of transport, available at the level of the study area. According to SUMP data, the analysis of the number of journeys made by public transport in the period 2011-2016 shows that in recent years there has been an increasing trend in the number of users of this mode of transport, with the maximum travel value being reached in 2014. According to the Traffic Survey, in the first 3 quarters of 2017, according to the data recorded by the carrier, 1,074.039 journeys by local public transport were carried out on average over a month. In conclusion, based on the data recorded by the public transport operator in the first nine months of 2017 and those measured during the preparation of this traffic study, the value of the number of public transport passengers was determined in the project study area at the level of the base year 2017, i.e. 12.852.721 passengers/year. Implementation of the project "Integrated System of
