Development of the cycle track network, implementation of a bike-sharing system

The overall objective of the project is to reduce GHG emissions and promote sustainable urban mobility by increasing the attractiveness and accessibility of cycling as a result of creating cycle paths and implementing an alternative urban mobility system using automatic bicycle rental stations. The project contributes directly to the specific objective 4.1 of the Investment Priority 4e of ROP 2014-2020 by increasing the modal share of cycling, making this clean travel an attractive option and a complementary alternative to public transport, thanks to the location of bicycle paths and bike-sharing stations in the vicinity of public transport stations and pedestrian areas, in order to promote intermodality. By providing an easy intermodal exchange between bicycle and public transport, i.e. walking, a reduction in the percentage of vehicle journeys in modal distribution will be achieved, with a direct effect on the reduction of GHG emissions due to road transport and, implicitly, on the improvement of the quality of life of the citizens of Focșani Municipality.
