Landscaping and modernisation works of tourist interest areas – South of the seaside (Mangalia Saturn)

General objective of the project: increase the average number of employees in the spa resorts of national interest Mangalia and Saturn. The overall objective will be achieved through the two specific objectives, achieved within 24 months of the signature of the grant contract. The proposed investment directly contributes to capitalising on the natural tourist resources of Mangalia and Saturn resorts (seawater, sulphurous mesothermal waters, marine bioclimate rich in saline aerosols). The project is supported by the local business environment: the 8 economic operators who participated in the public consultation process expressed their agreement in principle to the implementation of the project and, in this context, 7 of them declared that they would invest in starting new businesses or expanding/modernising existing ones, with the creation of 34 new jobs in the field of tourism and catering. Mangalia and Saturn benefit from the necessary infrastructure to host events associated with business tourism – seminars, conferences, summer schools, scientific symposia, etc. By engaging as a partner in Romania-Bulgaria cross-border projects starting with the pre-accession period (Phare CBC) and so far (the Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme), the staff of the U.A.T. Municipality of Mangalia involved in project management teams have received continuous professional training through the exchange of experience with Bulgarian partners. The objectives of the project correspond to: the general objective of the ROP 2014-2020, ‘to increase economic competitiveness and improve the living conditions of local and regional communities by supporting the business environment, infrastructure conditions and services, ensuring the sustainable development of regions capable of managing resources efficiently, exploiting their potential for innovation and assimilation of technological progress’; the general objective of the ROP 2014-2020, Priority Axis 7, Investment Priority 7.1., “support employment-friendly growth by developing endogenous potential as part of a territorial strategy for specific areas, including the reconversion of declining industrial regions, as well as increasing accessibility and development of specific natural and cultural resources (Investment in tourism infrastructure)”; — specific objective of ROP 2014-2020, Priority Axis 7, Investment Priority 7.1., “Increasing the average number of employees in tourist resorts”; actions proposed under ROP 2014-2020, Priority Axis 7, Investment Priority 7.1.: “Development of small-scale public infrastructure to capitalise on tourist attractions; “Marketing and tourism promotion activities of the funded objective”.
