General objective: “Improving the quality of life of the population through the rehabilitation of the Summer Garden and the vertical systematisation of the streets related to the area, in Mangalia Municipality, Constanta County”. The general objective of the project will contribute to the achievement of the main objective of the 2014-2020 ROP programme – “Enhancing economic competitiveness and improving the living conditions of local and regional communities by supporting the development of the business environment, infrastructure conditions and services, ensuring a sustainable development of the regions, capable of efficiently managing resources, capitalising on their potential for innovation and assimilation of technological progress” as well as to the achievement of specific objective 13.1 Improving the quality of life of the population in small and medium-sized towns in Romania. By fulfilling the general objective of the project, the aim is to improve cultural and/or recreational services, as well as to improve urban public spaces in Mangalia with implications for improving the quality of life of the population in general. The advantage of this integrated approach at the level of Mangalia (social, educational, cultural, recreational and public urban infrastructure dimensioned and/or modernised etc.) is the fact that several requirements and needs of the population are simultaneously met, between which there are interdependence relationships, thus contributing to the realisation of the development vision at the local level. The rehabilitation of the Lighthouse Summer Garden in Mangalia is a step towards solving problems of socio-economic nature, sustainable development and increasing standards at local level, improving the educational offer, the higher level of education of the population being an essential condition for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, offering opportunities for quality leisure, improving living conditions for vulnerable groups, as well as improving the quality and appearance of urban public infrastructure. The multifunctional spaces proposed by the project will offer people from all social categories the opportunity to access the cultural elements promoted through workshops, film screenings and the area of “botanical garden” as a space of promenade and learning.
