General objective of the project: carbon emissions in the city of Sinaia according to the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, including the promotion of urban mobility based on the use of public passenger car transport, clean, improved and reducing the number of journeys with private car transport. Transport is responsible for a large proportion of air pollution in the urban environment, with the transport sector making a significant contribution to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The contribution of traffic to CO2 emission is the most important and the highest growth trend, being the main greenhouse gas. One of the strategic objectives of the Sinaia SUMP, namely objective no. 3, is to: Reduced environmental impact: reducing motor transport needs, environmental pollution and energy consumption for transport activities. In order to achieve this strategic objective within the Sinaia SUMP, a number of operational objectives were proposed, including: — Reduced environmental pollution by up to 50 % by 2030 based on the prioritisation of non-motorised and non-polluting movements; Clean public transport systems used up to 100 % by 2030; The project “ECO – BUS” is mentioned in the short-term priorities (2017-2020) proposed in the Sinaia SUMP as a project to modernise the fleet of vehicles related to the Sinaia public transport (purchase of hybrid/electric means of public transport). We mention that the proposed project is in accordance with the SINAIA 2016-2020 DURABLE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY, whose vision consists of transforming Sinaia into a quality tourist destination based on its natural and cultural heritage that meets EU standards and achieving a sustainable development, from an environmental point of view, of the tourism sector at a higher rate of development than other tourist destinations in Romania. The project addresses the field of intervention of the INCONJURATOR of the strategy, whose strategic objective is “Creating a clean and ecological city, a pleasant, healthy environment for present and future generations, ensuring high standards of protection and management of green spaces, protection of architectural heritage, recycling of waste and efficient use of energy and water” and as specific/operational objectives: — increasing energy efficiency; — reducing CO2 emissions; adoption of environmental protection measures; — creation/rehabilitation/modernisation of urban public spaces – improvement of public services; A relevant extract from the SINAIA SINAIA DURABLE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY is attached to this CF. This project will ensure the improvement of public passenger transport as a result of the purchase of new, clean buses (diesel/electric hybrid buses) and the replacement of old existing buses.
