The investment proposed by this project envisages the restoration and external rehabilitation of the Classic Theatre “Ioan Slavici” Arad, which works in one of the most impressive buildings of Arad. The building is a historical monument representative of the local cultural heritage. The project proposes the external rehabilitation of the building of the Classic Theatre Ioan Slavici Arad, historical monument of local interest, ranked in the List of Historical Monuments LMI 2015 at position 240, code AR-II-m-B-00561, dating 1871-1874, according to Order 2361/2010. The building is the property of Arad Municipality. The building operates the theatre in Arad, which operates under the authority of Arad City Council, being subsidised from the local budget in proportion of 95 %. The building is the public property of Arad City Hall, according to CF no. 344588. The function of the building is theatre, but the building also houses two showrooms and the accompanying spaces for the public, for artists and for administration. The construction also houses the marriage hall of Arad, with a separate access from the southern facade. The activity that takes place in the building is a cultural activity, providing the infrastructure for the organisation of the main cultural events in Arad: the performances of the local theatre band, theatre festivals, concerts and other cultural events. Exhibitions, book launches are organised on the hall of the theatre, and conferences, commemorations and other events are also held in the big hall. The theatre hosts some activities of the two universities and high schools in Arad, here organising festive courses, freshman balls, end-of-year photo sessions, etc. Besides the activities inside the theatre building, near it, both on the front plateau, from the main entrance, and in the square behind the building (Avram Iancu Square) there are various cultural events, exhibitions are arranged or are organised for the Days of the City or on the occasion of other celebrations. Also in this market are organised exhibitions of old cars, product presentations and other activities that attract many visitors. Avram Iancu Square is a park with a monument dedicated to heroes. The mission of the project’s objective is cultural institution and touristic objective, considering that it is a representative historical monument located in the historical center of Arad included in several cultural tourism routes that present the significant touristic sights of Arad. The theatre building is located at the crossroads of local tourist routes and at the intersection of the main access routes from the highway and airport to the city center, as well as with easy access to the national roads linking Arad to Timisoara and a less crowded route to Deva.
