Curtici is a city in Arad county, western region, Romania, located at a distance of 17 km from the city of Arad county residence. Curtici is located in the western part of Arad county and is the most important railway connection point with central and western Europe of Romania. The administrative territory covers an area of about 7970 hectares in the Western Plain. The agricultural potential of the area, the favorable position on the western border of Romania, the proximity to the city of Arad, the presence of the railway line connecting to Western Europe (Curtici station was put into use in 1921 with the creation of customs) are the main economic assets that make Curtici a pole of economic convergence. The capacity of investors to attract is mainly due to the creation of the Arad-Curtici Free Zone, where around 5000 employees currently work, some of which are from other localities. The population of Curitci in 2017 was 8740 inhabitants. The main problems identified regarding the socio-economic development of the locality and the quality of life of the inhabitants are related to the quality of urban public infrastructure, to social services provided especially to disadvantaged social groups: children and elderly people and the quality of educational and leisure services that can benefit the residents of the city. There’s a nursery missing. The social services infrastructure in Curtici includes only one day care center for children, which offers after school services There is no infrastructure to provide social services for elderly people.
