The general objective of the investment project is to support and develop the public transport system in Resita, in a modern and integrated manner with the other modes of transport, in order to achieve the following specific objectives: — Increasing the attractiveness and safety of public transport and implicitly the number of users and the corresponding modal share, at the level of the municipality; — Increasing the economic efficiency of the operation of public transport, through the implementation of electric public transport and in the road transport segment, more economic efficiency than the transport carried out by diesel motorised means – Improving the quality of life of the inhabitants by improving the air quality in the municipality of Resita, following the reduction of individual motorised transport and implicitly the greenhouse gas emissions generated by it – Improving the quality of life of the inhabitants by improving the pedestrian and sail areas, equipped with specific urban furniture – Support and development of non-motorised modes of transport along the main urban mobility corridor, by providing facilities and functions related to infrastructure elements. In accordance with the supporting documents produced during the elaboration of this technical and economic documentation, the objectives set for the implementation of this project, defined in the framework of the Options Study, are: — Supporting intermodality, represented by the service of the population with multiple variants and means of transport, by implementing the unique lane solutions for all types of public transport, unique tram-bus stations, the location of bicycle rental stations and the area of public transport stations and the implementation of intermodal terminals in the Republic Square. — Increasing the attractiveness and safety to travel in sustainable ways, represented by supporting the use of public transport through functionalities and smart city ITS infrastructures, which will allow priority of public transport, information for passengers in the stations, easy access to travel services, as well as increasing the attractiveness of pedestrian and sail spaces by equipping them with specific furniture and related functions, such as automatic bicycle rental system. — Obtaining the best accessibility, represented by the most efficient direct service of the population of the municipality of Resita with tram or bus services – 77 % of the total population less than 5 minutes walk from a tram or bus station. — Getting the best travel efficiency, represented by the shortest journey time (km 0+ 000 – km 8+ 330) in 20 minutes, the same duration being done by car, so public transport will become a viable alternative to it. — Obtaining the best investment cost-benefit ratio, following the insurance
