Restoration and sustainable exploitation of the Corvin Castle cultural heritage – Hunedoara Municipality, Hunedoara County

The general objective of the project initiated by Hunedoara is to boost the development of Hunedoara, Hunedoara County and West Region, respecting the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection, through conservation and restoration activities of the Romanian cultural heritage and traditional culture. The development of the tourism sector in Hunedoara county could also contribute to the development of related economic sectors, thus leading to an increase in labour supply with direct impact in creating new jobs. The cultural heritage objective – Corvin Castle, today museum – once protected and valued, together with the other tourist attractions existing on the territory of Hunedoara County and West Region can directly contribute to the development of the tourism sector, one of the sectors with the highest potential to offer growth and economic development at local and regional level. The consolidation, restoration and reconstitution/developing of new spaces inside the castle, by restoring and introducing them into the tourist circuit, in order to carry out appropriate functions, compatible with the status of historical monument, is based on the policy of sustainable development of the cultural heritage, which together with its sustainable promotion can have a positive effect both on the economic recovery of the region and on the improvement of the quality of life.
