The general objective of the project “Modernisation of Mures Nord Traffic Corner:DN 7(Gelmar) -Geoagiu Băi – Bobâlna -Rapoltu Mare – Uroi – Chimindia – Harau – Barsau – Şoimuș – Brănişca – DN 7 (Ilia)” is to increase the accessibility of rural and urban areas (7 localities, of which 2 cities, accumulating a population of 32348 inhabitants – the cities of Simeria and Geoagiu, the municipalities of Brănişca, Hărău, Ilia, Rapoltu Mare, Şoimuș and the rural settlements located close to the TEN-T infrastructure, the basic road road (E68 – road axis 7 – Pan European Corridor IV and E79), the TEN-T basic rail infrastructure (rail axis 22 – Pan European Corridor IV). The aim of the project is to reduce disparities within Hunedoara County and, implicitly, intra-regional disparities (between Hunedoara, Caras-Severin counties and Arad and Timis counties) and interegional to Alba County (Central Region) by carrying out specific activities, included in the chapter Previewed Activities, which will allow the accessibility of an area with poor structural development (municipalities on Muresului Valley); but also with a significant economic, tourist, cultural-historical and ethnographic potential (Sarmizegetusa Regia area, the balneo-climatic resort Geoagiu Bai with the Roman Road and the Roman Baths, Cigmău/Germisara Castrum, Simeria Dendrologic Park (Arboretum), Memorial Complex “Aurel Vlaicu”, Corvin Castle, Deva Fortress, Cincis Lake, Prislop Monastery, etc.), until the end of the project;attract the area into the tourist and economic circuit with implications for the development of Hunedoara County and West Region., by upgrading 5 county roads linking, entirely, the main municipalities and cities of the county, until the completion of the project.
