The general objective of the project is to boost local development and capitalise on the local cultural heritage by restoring and enhancing the Cris Country Museum as a cultural heritage objective of Oradea. This general objective frames the project within the specific objective of investment priority 5.1 – Preserving, protecting, promoting and developing the natural and cultural heritage, i.e. boosting local development by preserving, protecting and enhancing cultural heritage and cultural identity. The project links equally with the Sectoral Strategy for Culture and National Heritage 2014-2020. According to this document, the following main strands of action have been identified in the medium and long term (2017-2018), to which the implementation of this project will be aligned: development of spaces designed to display and store existing collections and heritage under appropriate conditions, modernise technical facilities and, last but not least, raise awareness among local authorities and local communities of the significance of museums in contemporary society. Given that the exploitation of tourism potential has been identified as a strategic objective of Bihor County, the general objective of this project responds to the priorities set out in the Strategy for Sustainable Development of Bihor County for the period 2014-2020, being a project that supports the valorisation of cultural heritage. The project is identified in this strategic document under Measure 3.2.2. Preservation and exploitation of built heritage objectives, sub-code T.3.2.2.6. The project will contribute significantly to the achievement of the specific objective of the investment priority, namely to boost local development by preserving, protecting and capitalising on the cultural heritage and cultural identity, by the fact that the arrangement of the Cris Country Museum’s headquarters will highlight the historical, artistic, natural and ethnographic cultural heritage of great value found within this museum. This heritage is unfortunately not sufficiently well known to the general public, nor is there a sufficiently large and effective promotion of the Cris Country Museum. The realisation of the project will be able to highlight the exhibits of particular value of the museum, and will also increase the number of tourists visiting the museum. At the same time, on the outside side, a number of spatial compliances will be achieved to ensure minimum functionality, safety and accessibility requirements. Thus, there will be a major contribution to increasing the culture of tourists and the general population.
