The main purpose of the investment is to reduce CO2-equivalent emissions from motorised road transport in the municipality of Beius. Thus, as a result of this investment, the quantity of pollutant emissions decreases by about 19 % (according to the data mentioned in the Traffic Study, drawn up by SC Institute for Transport Research – Incertrans SA). This project will aim to make the use of passenger cars a less attractive option in terms of economic and journey times, thus creating the conditions for reducing car numbers and reducing CO2-equivalent emissions. The presence of traffic in the central area has polluting effects (noxes, noise) on the environment and leads to rapid deterioration of the road infrastructure and constitutes a risk factor for pedestrians. Given that the area with the highest population density is the Samuil Vulcan – Center area, the activities of the project on the creation of a pedestrian area and a cycle path (in Samuil Vulcan Square and Motilor Alley) contribute to the development of urban mobility throughout Beius. Central areas of the city are typical areas of impact on air quality for sources characteristic of urban areas (road traffic, residential heating). Therefore, the activities related to the creation of a pedestrian area and a cycle path within the project “Rehabilitation, modernisation of Samuil Vulcan Square and Aleea Motilor” contribute to the development of urban mobility throughout Beius, and at the same time aim at discouraging the use of cars in the busiest areas. Due to its small size, there is no public transport network in Beius. The creation of a parallel cycle path with DN 76, through the project is useful for the large flows of cyclists from/to the communes in the periurban area, which cross the central area of the city. This track will be included in an integrated urban network to be realised by the City Hall through future projects. Thus, links will be ensured with areas of local importance, as well as with the main tourist attractions in Beius. The City Hall of Beius currently has the following complementary projects in progress: — “modernisation in the Bucuş Mountain – HOREA STRADA, STRADA Pandurilor, ROMANIA STRADA (PARCIAL), SAMUIL VULCAN (PARCIAL) and Bihor (PARTIONAL) MUNICIPIUL Bucuş” comprising 2173 ml cyclist track segments (Samuil Vulcan Square) and 71 ml (Calea Bihorului) respectively. The project is at the DALI phase being approved by HCL and procurement procedures for PT + Execution have started. Source of financing: the local budget. — Arrangement AND DOTATION OF CULTURAL HOUSE AND AMENAJING URBAN SPACE URBAN AFERENT IN THE BUSINESS MUNICIPIRE, through which a runway will also be realised
