The general objective of the project is to reduce GHG emissions by making investments to ensure an efficient public passenger transport service and to improve the conditions for the use of non-motorised modes of transport, in order to reduce the number of journeys with private transport (cars) and reduce CO2 equivalent emissions from transport. By modernising the streets and providing cycle paths, traffic will benefit from higher traffic conditions, conditions that will materialise in a number of social and economic advantages, such as: Improvement of the road infrastructure used as a priority by the local public passenger transport service, in order to increase the speed of travel by means of public transport and to achieve greater comfort for road users; — increasing pedestrian safety – reducing traffic jams and decreasing travel time; — significantly reducing environmental pollution by reducing pollution and noise; — the corresponding driving conditions reduce wear and degradation of the means of transport. — improvement in accordance with the standards in force of living conditions of residents, increasing population health and eliminating stress; improving the accessibility and mobility of people, goods and services, which will stimulate sustainable economic development; — the creation of new jobs during the execution of the works. The proposed works to be carried out on the proposed streets will lead to the improvement of traffic conditions and traffic fluency and will have a beneficial impact on the area both from an environmental and socio-economic point of view. Thus, Dej Municipality aims to develop urban mobility by changing the focus from a mobility based on car use to mobility based on walking, using bicycle as a means of travel, using high quality and efficient public transport, reducing the use of cars in parallel with the use of clean car categories. The general objective of the project is closely related to the specific objective of the Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020, priority axis 3: “Supporting the transition towards a low carbon economy” investment priority 4e“Promoting low-carbon strategies for all types of territories, in particular for urban areas, including the promotion of sustainable multimodal urban mobility and mitigation-relevant adaptation measures” i.e. “Reduction of carbon emissions in urban areas based on sustainable urban mobility plans” through the implementation of strategic measures, based on the data of the Dej Sustainable Urban Moblity Plan, which will lead to the promotion of sustainable multimodal urban mobility and the reduction of CO2 emissions
