The general objective of the project is to improve the urban environment of Turda Municipality, to revitalise it by measures that provide for the regeneration of a degraded area belonging to Turda Municipality, namely the Mihai Viteazu Obelisk Area, namely its econversion in a public park. Thus, through the present project, the local public administration aims to transform a degraded, unused land located inside the city, in a leisure and leisure area for the inhabitants of Turda. By reconverting this unused land, but which has a high tourist potential, it wants to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the municipality, by providing them with modern and attractive leisure facilities, thus satisfying their desire for recreation and at the same time contributing to the improvement of the aesthetic aspect of the municipality, as well as to the reduction of the CO2 level as a result of the increase of green surfaces. The area that is intended to be regenerated has a great historical and religious importance, linking it to the Tomb of Michael the Brave, marked by a baument (obelisk) inaugurated on May 5, 1977. The project is consistent with the specific objective of the Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020, priority axis 5, priority 5.2, by reconverting and refunctionalising a degraded area and transforming it into a recreational space – PARC PUBLIC, the project contributing to the achievement of the investment priority indicator on “open spaces created or rehabilitation in urban areas” through the construction of 24.552.75 sqm of green space.
