The proposed project aims to improve the quality of life of the population of Gherla by developing cultural services and reducing crime. Despite the rich historical heritage of the Municipality (cantonation of a troop of Roman knights, evidence of the early presence of Armenians), the current History Museum is unable, due to the lack of adequate facilities and space, to display important museum objects, playing a marginal role in gherlean cultural life. In addition, it currently operates in a state of provision in a rented space, the amounts allocated from the local budget being directed towards ensuring current expenses. The restoration of Laszloffy House, a cultural heritage objective with multi-ethnic valences, will offer the opportunity to create the necessary framework not only to expose objects from different eras to the general public in a coherent route but also to develop the Museum’s activity in a center that attracts the population through cultural and educational manifestations, especially for disadvantaged people. On the other hand, due to the low standard of living, people among the disadvantaged population are faced with the growing crime phenomenon, which adds to the decay of members of the disadvantaged community, maintaining a state of insecurity. Thus, by creating a cultural alternative and ensuring a safe climate at the level of the community in Gherla, the proposed activities will improve the quality of life of the population of Gherla, contributing to the achievement of the specific objective 13.1: Improving the quality of life of the population in small and medium-sized cities in Romania, within the Regional Operational Programme (ROP) 2014-2020.
