Physical regeneration of the Ostrov area

The general objective of the project is the physical and social regeneration of the Ostrov area of Satu Mare Municipality, in order to create a flexible, multidisciplinary system that responds as adequately as possible to the needs identified in the marginalised urban area, the typology of potential beneficiaries and the particular conditions in which they are located. The establishment of the Multifunctional Center involves the rehabilitation of a former thermal power plant located in the immediate vicinity of ZUM Ostrovului, covering works to strengthen the structure, partial staging and partitioning of the building in order to create sufficient spaces for offering all social services specific to day care centers. The Ostrov area has been chosen as an intervention area due to several important elements: the poor and the large number of children, the low level of social services for marginalised people, the bad reputation of the area among the citizens living in the vicinity of this disadvantaged community, the degraded physical state of the area, which endangers the health of the inhabitants, the existence of poor infrastructure.
