Modernisation, extension and endowment of the Emergency Response Unit of the Sibiu Emergency County Clinical Hospital

Improving the quality and efficiency of emergency hospital care by modernising the emergency reception units and implicitly the medical services provided, in order to improve the health status of the population in Sibiu County and the surrounding areas. Health is a vital economic sector, which is why it is fundamental to be able to ensure the health and well-being of the population. According to the country’s health profile for Romania published by the EC, the Romanian healthcare system is characterised by low funding and inefficient use of public resources, with the lowest spending per capita as a share of GDP in the EU. As a result, the quality of hospital infrastructure is below the level of other EU Member States, leading to a lack of advanced medical equipment as well as poor spatialisation. Therefore investment in health, improvement of hospital infrastructure must be supported and encouraged. In addition to the many important considerations contributing to improving the health of the population, the conditions of emergency hospital facilities in which patients are treated are of major importance. There is therefore a need for considerable interest in the rehabilitation and modernisation of buildings for the proper provision of health services. Sibiu Local Council and the management of Sibiu County Emergency Hospital have shown their interest in the hospital infrastructure of the county and resorted to the rehabilitation and extension of the Emergency Receiving Unit within Sibiu JU. The extension of the existing space is necessary to include the missing spaces in the current structure of the department, thus creating optimal conditions for taking over the increased flow of patients and for making the medical act performed by the department’s staff more efficient. Through this project, the construction of the new infrastructure will take into account aspects of energy-efficient and environmentally responsible solutions, reduced environmental impact, the creation of appropriate hygiene conditions. In addition, the overall objective of the project contributes both to an increase in the level of working conditions for medical staff and to increasing the efficiency of treatments and patient satisfaction.
