The general objective of the project is to develop social services by encouraging and facilitating older people’s access to social services by creating a model of community assistance tailored to the needs of older people and improving the quality of life by maintaining the autonomy of the person and preventing marginalisation and social exclusion. The general objective of the project is the establishment of a day care center for the elderly in the existing building, located in the municipality of Odorheiu Secuiesc, 100 Orbán Balázs Street. The establishment of this day-to-day social centre for the elderly will improve the infrastructure for social services. Thus, the project will contribute to achieving the specific objective POR 8.3. With this project, the Local Public Administration of the municipality of Odorheiu Secuiesc aims to create the necessary conditions for providing the population with essential services, thus contributing to the achievement of the European objective of economic and social cohesion by improving the infrastructure of health, education and social services. Through the project Local Public Administration aims to provide social, cultural and religious services for the elderly, as a priority, while ensuring the necessary consistency to achieve the general objective of Odorheiu Secuiesc municipality, established by the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy of Odorheiu Secuiesc Municipality for the period 2015-2020, which falls within the National Development Programme and the operational programmes, especially the Regional Operational Programme (ROP). Therefore, ‘the National Strategy for the Development of Social Services envisages the establishment of guidelines and a coherent institutional framework in order to create a uniform and comprehensive system of social services capable of ensuring the social inclusion of all vulnerable groups and of contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the individual’. Thus, the strategic objective of the ROP is to support sustainable economic, social development. Sustainable urban development can only be achieved to the extent that measures for the physical renovation of urban areas will be combined at local level with measures promoting education, economic development, social inclusion and environmental protection.
