The general object of this project is the efficient and intelligent management of energy and its use from renewable sources in Cugir city and Friday, in Alba county, thus contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and also a better functionality of the city’s public lighting system. Moreover, by achieving the general objective, the existing public lighting system of Cugir will be replaced and thus the level of development of the city as well as the quality of life in the urban space will experience a significant increase compared to the evolution of this project and in order to reduce the consumption of electricity. By executing a new lighting network with new lighting fixtures with LED technology, on the opposite side of the streets from the existing public lighting system, it will ensure the access of the population of Cugir to an intelligent lighting system that allows citizens a better mobility at night, safety and increased energy efficiency. The general objective chosen for this project contributes to the development strategy of the Regional Operational Programme (ROP) 2014-2020 in terms of supporting energy efficiency and with the help of the implementation plan that fits all the criteria and eligibility of Axis 3.1 C, determines that this project is an absolutely necessary one that promises the transformation of a locality into an intelligent urban area, in which the state-of-the-art technology will help to improve living conditions when Cugir has a dynamic potential in the economic sectors of Romania, being an important city of the country as a development potential according to statistical and economic indicators. This potential of the city has developed mainly on industry, which since ancient times has been the material and financial base of the city, but there are other sectors of the economy that have not been very focused on, which have not been sufficiently exploited and that can bring great financial benefits to the city community and its sustainable development.
