The general objective of the project is to increase the quality of the educational infrastructure of the University of Bucharest, by making an investment in the rehabilitation of the building of the Faculty of Law Palace, in order to comply with the existing fire safety norms. The aim of the project is to ensure an educational process at higher quality standards correlated with market requirements and national and European policies in the field of education. The project proposed for funding contributes directly to the achievement of specific objective 10.3 of Priority Axis 10, as it will increase the institution’s capacity to meet market demands regarding standards and academic quality, benefiting from a quality educational infrastructure, adapted to the existing legal norms on fire safety. Thus, the realisation of the proposed investment will lead to compliance with the legal provisions in force regarding ensuring the essential quality requirement of fire safety, obtaining the approval of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and the authorisation for functioning of the faculty and implicitly increasing the safety of the participants in the educational process. Education is one of the essential services that the state provides to its citizens. The importance of this sector has been consistently recognised, including in documents adopted at European Union level. The Lisbon Strategy has affirmed the importance of a knowledge-based society as part of a competitive society. Equipping educational spaces, research spaces, implicitly creates the prerequisites for conducting an educational process to European standards.
