The general objective is to build a new building for the “Ioan Bădescu” Secondary School in the town of Popești Leordeni (for classes I-VIII, including the preparatory class level), the more developed Bucharest-Ilfov region in order to increase the access, quality and attractiveness of the educational process in the locality and the support services in order to adapt the school offer to the needs of the beneficiaries. The project contributes to the fulfilment of Priority Axis 10 Improvement of Educational Infrastructure and aims to invest an educational unit in the more developed region of Bucharest-Ilfov, Popeşti-Leordeni city. The aim is to create optimal conditions for a quality education, to provide and modernise the facilities/equipments needed to increase the attractiveness of education and to ensure a differentiated learning (sufficient classrooms, laboratories specific to different school activities), avoiding the risk of early school leaving, providing the means for continuous improvement of the teaching approach and promoting equal opportunities. The project contributes to the achievement of Specific Objective 10.1 because the city of Popeşti Leordeni through the present investment aims to contribute to increasing the degree of education and improving the conditions in the compulsory education system – “Ioan Bădescu” Secondary School. The investment proposed by this call POR/10/2017/10/10.1b/BI, MySMIS code no. POR/322/10/1/Increasing participation in early education and compulsory education, concerns the construction of two new building bodies for the secondary school IOAN BADESCU: Corps 1 -S+P+ 3E, Corps 2 – S+P+ 2E, to improve the educational infrastructure in primary and secondary education, including classrooms, gyms, bathrooms, provision of facilities for the “School after school” program (currently not present in the school), specific laboratories for school activities and acquisition of inventory/fixed items necessary to carry out the stages of the educational process. Thus, this project proposal aims at the end of the investment to result in a completely new building that meets the functional, technical, aesthetic requirements, a building that allows the school activity not to inherit in any way the deficiencies of the existing old bodies: insufficient and overcrowded classes of course, insufficient sanitary facilities, lack of laboratories, construction without serious improvements and moral and technical outdated, old furniture and equipment, etc. The project falls within the specific eligible activities proposed to be financed by ROP 2014-2020 and aims at the following types of investments: construction works for new bodies, phased demolition of old bodies on the western side and start of construction works for the first new building body (without affecting the school activity define
