The overall objective of the project is to improve public transport in the cities of the project by renewing rolling stock on selected public transport routes. The project contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in two ways: • by replacing old trams with new ones with zero emissions, thereby eliminating GHG emissions on those routes; • by providing superior conditions (modern, low-floor, faster, less noisy, ITS-facilitated vehicles) through new vehicles, as well as the complementary improvements brought by cities through other projects funded by the 2014-2020 ROP, more inhabitants of these cities will use public transport and some of them will have abandoned private transport.
