The existing Giannoulis Waste Treatment Plant was constructed to meet the needs of the settlement of Giannoulis and the Labour Houses of the Labour Housing Organisation (OEK) and started operating in 1997. The ESA has been operating for almost twenty years in a satisfactory manner, complying with the technical specifications on the basis of which it was constructed as well as the relevant environmental conditions.Falani with a population of 4,325 inhabitants (provision 2031) is a priority settlement C and according to Directive 91/271 it must have a sewerage network and an ERL. For this reason, the sewerage system has already been built with funding from the Operational Programme “Environment and Sustainable Development”.The present phase of the overall project includes:- Construction of a central sewerage pipeline for the transport of waste water from the settlement of Falani to the entrance well of EEL Giannoulis.- Study of implementation and construction of the extension of EEL Giannoulis, with a 20 year forecast, to serve 11,630 equivalent residents.
