The project concerns the creation of Green Roofs in the rooms of a school complex in which the 1st and 2nd Vocational Lyceums (EPAL) of Stavroupolis are housed, the vesper epal Stavroupolis and the laboratory center of EPAL Stavroupoli, in the Municipality of Pavlos Melas. The school complex of EPAL is one of the largest in the Municipality of Pavlos Melas in terms of both the extent of its building infrastructure and the number of students it hosts. The total built surface of the building is 11,918 sq.m. and 2,662 students attend it, while the teaching and support staff is 205 people. The building is not tangent to others and is generally not shaded from anywhere, which means that high temperatures develop in the room. With the implementation of this project, we will achieve the formation of a planted roof of a total area of 3.087 sq.m. as well as green walls with a total area of 100 sq.m., with multiple environmental benefits from reducing the energy losses and thermal exchanges of the building with the environment, the strengthening of sound insulation, the management of rainwater and the reduction of their flow factor, the containment of harmful particles and the general upgrading of the green operation. In particular, the construction of the green roof will provide energy savings during both the summer and winter seasons. Green roofs and roofs in EPAL Stavroupolis. An intervention by OCE – NEA of Thessaloniki that will lead to a functional and aesthetic upgrade of the building and will increase the green surfaces by 3,187 square meters.
