The operation concerns the supply and installation of a system for the automatic disposal of shared bicycles, which will be installed in areas within the intervention area of the Municipality and will include ten (10) automatic parking and bicycle distribution stations (conventional, electrical and disabled). More specifically, the stations will provide a total of ninety-two (92) conventional bicycles, forty-two (42) electric and three (3) specially designed electric bicycles for disabled people. The stations will operate 24 hours a day, providing freedom to travel day and night. The new bicycle disposal system will provide an integrated service that combines free of charge (at least 3 years from the start of the system), parking, maintenance and repair. In visible locations, information maps of the city with the stations’ positions and the cycling network will be displayed. It is a service that will serve the citizens, complementing public transport and strengthening the parking policy around the centre and the smooth movement within the central area of the city. It will therefore improve the functionality of the intervention area and improve the environment and quality of life of the residents, while at the same time providing the possibility of use by elderly people or with mobility problems, while in the long term it will have a positive impact on the level of public health, climate change and generally on the living conditions of the population.
