It provides for the replacement of 13,666 m of water pipelines and this project solves the acute problem of damages and leaks of the existing obsolete water supply network of the city. The existing network consists mainly of deaminate tubes, resulting in water being dangerous to public health. More specifically: — The internal network that will be fed by the reservoir of Agios Vasilios and water supplying most of the city with drinking water.- The internal water supply network that will be fed by the Mihalitsata reservoir and watering the rest of the section. The study provides, in principle, for the replacement of all pipes made with asbestos cement pipes (A/Z). In addition to these pipelines, some PE and PVC pipelines will be replaced because they have small diameters resulting in a high pressure drop and the inability to ensure the required piezometric heights in extended sections of the network. All the new pipelines of the internal network are planned to pass through the roads of the road plan. The total length of the new pipelines is 13,666 m and their layout is shown in the relevant horizontal photographs of the study. With this project it is expected to reduce leaks from 70 % now according to the 5 % leak control study.
