The project is part of the wider context of the promoted reform in the field of Primary Health Care throughout the country. The aim of the project is the development and pilot operation of Local Health Groups (TOMY) in the Regions of Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Central Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly and Western Greece, consisting of health professionals and other auxiliary staff, as defined in Article 106 of Law 4461/2017, in order to realise the responsibility of each TOMY for the provision of holistic, human-centred and high quality health services, free and non-discriminatory. Each Department is the basic unit for providing Primary Health Care services (prevention, promotion and health education, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation) to individuals, families and the wider community (including vulnerable social groups) and is the core of the National Health System (NHS). The beneficiary of the project is the NSRF Executive Structure of the Ministry of Health, the main project, the Ministry of Health and Operating and Maintenance, the relevant Health Regions. For this reason, the project is implemented through 6 distinct sub-projects, one for each of the regions mentioned above. The total budget of the project is EUR 28,613,021,84 (with EUR 14,645,688,49 being the eligible public expenditure co-financed by the Operational Programme “Public Sector Reform”). The start date of the project is 24/07/2017 and the estimated implementation time of 32 months.
