ASSOCIATION OF THE COUNTRY OF MANUFACTURE WITH BEZOGEPHYRA WOOD

The aim of the study is to examine the feasibility of building a wooden pavement bridge for the connection of Agia Paraskevi with Chora (peripheral castle road) Vonitsa Municipality. The construction area of the wooden pedestrian bridge is located in the southern part of the Amvrakikos bay in Vonitsa and in particular adjacent to the lagoon “Limeni” or “Myrtari”. The intervention area belongs to the areas of the Amvrakikos National Wetlands Park as it was designated and demarcated by CYP 11998 (Government Gazette 123/D/21-32008) “Characterisation of the land, water and marine areas of the Amvrakikos Gulf as a National Park and the definition of uses, terms and constraints”.The functional connection of the two regions will enable the area to be exploited within a general framework of sustainable development with interventions that will stimulate the local economy. A development that will succeed in defending and ensuring the protection and preservation of the particular characteristics of the natural environment, while at the same time exploiting the local potential and stimulating the local economy. The aim is to highlight this particular environment but also to protect it. The construction of the wooden pedestrian bridge aims to complement the infrastructure for highlighting the unique landscapes of Amvrakikos by improving and complementing the network of pathways facilitating the movement of visitors in an area of particular cultural, natural and tourist interest. The infrastructure will also contribute to the development of alternative forms of tourism in the area (fishing and diving tourism) and will increase traffic in the area, while contributing to the reuse of abandoned beaches.
