The project concerns the aesthetic and functional upgrading of the historic site of the “MINOS” plant in the city of Ierapetra and its transformation into a park of exhibition and cultural activities with direct reference to the historical past. The intervention attempted in a space of 6,137 square meters restores the degradation and “injury” of the area from the demolition of the historic factory, a landmark of the area from 1908 to the beginning of the 1990s. Upon completion of the project, the industrial heritage of the city will become part of the wider cultural heritage and will play a special role in the new cultural and tourist identity of the region, with the benefits being extended to both the environmental and economic revitalisation of the wider region.
