CONSUMPTION UNIT OF THE MONTENEGRIN SOVEREIGN CAPACITY 3.000 KM OF DRINKING WATER PER DAY

The Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company (JHA) Maleviziou meets its needs with overdraft and over-use of the available underground water resources, which especially in Crete and the area of Heraklion Prefecture are proven to have suffered a significant burden, resulting in their demineralisation. The problem becomes more acute during the summer months due to tourist traffic. The exploitation of the unique source of the Almyros river is a pursuit of decades, as literally the amount of brackish water is lost in the sea that could cover the needs of the entire prefecture of Heraklion. This project concerns the implementation of a drinking water production line of nominal daily production of 3.000 m³, as well as related infrastructure projects for the extraction and transport of water to be managed from the spring of Almyros.
