The implementation of this project tackles the problems of infrastructure and IT applications of the General Hospital ‘Papageorion’ of Thessaloniki and prepares the nursing unit to welcome significant investments in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) designed and implemented centrally by the Ministry of Health in the context of the current programming period 2014-2020. At the same time, it further utilises the ICT infrastructures implemented in the Hospital in the context of the previous programming period (2007-2013) with the productive integration of new infrastructures that will increase the level of extroversion and effective operation of the Hospital for the benefit of patients. Issues relating to: In the qualitative upgrading of the health services offered, by integrating into the productive operation of the CDS system (Clinical Decision Support) and safe management of blood transfusions (Safeblood). To substantially improve the ability to retrieve and distribute electronic information from existing and future information systems. Improving staff productivity (medical, nursing and administrative), using advanced ICT tools such as smart portable terminal devices. Reducing the waiting time for the provision of health service and residence time in the Nursing Unit, thus contributing to the substantial improvement of patient satisfaction for the public health services offered. Upgrading the computational power for the better operation of central medical applications (EMR, LIS, PACS, RIS etc). Strengthening in real terms digital security under the relevant regulations.
