The project concerns the construction of an external aqueduct for the transport of additional drinking water from the sources of Drizas Stymphalia to the new Kefalari pumping station and to an existing pipeline which feeds the central water reservoir to the ‘Houni’ location. The aim of the project is the qualitative and quantitative strengthening of the water supply system of the city of Kiato and the lowland areas of the Municipality of Sikyonia, namely the P.K. Moulkiou, Pasiou, Kato Dimini, Vassilikos, Laliotio and Dimini. The construction of the project is the only and necessary solution for the provision of adequate and sanitary drinking water in these areas, definitively solving the water problems they face. The project consists of 3 sub-projects. The 1st Subproject concerns the implementation of the project (constructive) and includes the construction of two pumping stations in the Driza and Kefalari areas as well as the depressive pipeline for the transportation of water. The 2nd Subproject concerns the electrification of the two pump stations and the 3rd Subproject includes the necessary Archaeological Research and Works that will take place in the area of the project, by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Korinthia. This project is fully compatible with the approved River Basin Management Plan of the North Peloponnese Water System and is a complementary measure to implement Directive 2000/60/EC and ensure the environmental objectives set for the Underground Water System of Corinth Chiato (GR0200190) whose quality is poor.
