Maintenance, restoration and promotion of the katholikon of the Holy Monastery of Agioi Asomatos Petrakis

The Monastery of Asomata Petraki, built in the 10th century, is one of the oldest churches in Athens that survive and operate until today. It was named as such because it was renovated in 1673 by the monk and wealthy physician Parthenis Petrakis. The church and its surroundings were designated as a historical monument in 1963. Within the framework of the project, it is necessary to make a coordinated and universal restoration of the Catholic Monastery of Asomata Petraki, with the strengthening of the foundation and the ligation of the dome podium, with the definitive treatment of cracks, erosion and the disintegration of coatings and windows and the waterproofing of roofs. Artistic and aesthetic restoration work is also imperative, while the modernisation of electrical and electromechanical installations is also necessary.
