The district heating facility of Kozani began operations in 1993. Since then, the development of the system has been rapid, mainly due to the economic and environmental benefits it offers consistently to the connected consumers, but also to the environment of the city of Kozani and its neighboring settlements – Active Urban Planning Zone (SPA) and Municipal Department of Nea Haravgi of the Municipality of Kozani. Both of these factors are particularly important in an environmentally high area, mainly due to the lignite activity developed by PPC S.A. for electricity generation and the adverse climatic conditions prevailing during the winter period.Today, the installation serves about 6,000 connected buildings, covering the needs of heating indoors and hot water, replacing heating oil which is imported fuel as a rule high and often changing costs. The development of the distribution network and the transmission pipelines currently exceeds 400 km, covering approximately 100 % of the city of Kozani and the settlements of the SPA and the Nea Charavgi settlements of the Municipality of Kozani. This intervention constitutes the second phase (complete) of the project of the programme period 2007-2013 and concerns:(a) In the extension of the existing thermal energy distribution network, with the underground installation of pre-insulated pipelines with an estimated length of 2.630 m, it also concerns:(a) the existing area of the city of Kozani. In the extension of the existing thermal energy distribution network, with the underground installation of pre-insulated pipelines with an estimated length of 2.630 m. of the existing area, the location of the existing town heating area in the area, with the location of the existing thermal energy distribution network, with the underground installation of pre-insulated pipelines with an estimated length of 2.630 m. for the coverage of the existing area of the area.In the area of the existing area, with the location of the existing area, the building has a new location in the area.
