The project will serve the needs of the Local Government Organisations (OTAs) of the Northwest Town Planning Group of Thessaloniki: St.Paul, Ampelokipi, Kordelio, Evosmos, Menemeni, Neapoli, Polihni, Stavroupoli, Sikies, Triandria, Ehedoros, Oraiokastro, Efkarpia, Thessaloniki (60 %).The planned Waste Transfer Station (SMA) will have an average capacity of 1.100 t/day and will operate in 3 daily shifts. For the operation of the installation, the installation of fixed transhipment equipment including fixed waste compression presses is provided for 2 levels.The compressed waste will be driven by an appropriate connection to a container, which will then be taken from a special transport vehicle. At the first and higher levels the incoming garbage trucks will be parked for unloading, while at the second and lower levels are the containers to be filled. The project will operate fully automated and the unloading and compression of waste will take place within a closed and deodorised building.The following infrastructure projects are planned for the smooth operation of the project: Wastewater treatment plant, fuel supply, workshop, washing machine, administration building, fire extinguishing system, fencing etc.There are also improvements to the external access road, for the smooth movement of vehicles.
