The aim of the project is to extend the coverage of the wireless network at the University of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, while increasing its capacity and reliability. With the completion of the project, the coverage of the wireless network is expected to have increased by 30 %, upgrading the services enjoyed by tens of thousands of users of the AUTH wireless network and supporting the modern trend for “mobility without borders”. At the same time, the Foundation’s central computing infrastructure will be upgraded, which support both the administrative and educational and research work of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The upgrading of the centralised general purpose computing infrastructure will allow the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki to continue to increase its productivity by exploiting modern electronic services, while the upgrading of research computing infrastructures will strengthen the ecosystem created in recent years around high performance computing (HPC), distributed systems and parallel programming. This will benefit both the University itself and the Region of Central Macedonia in general, as the know-how that is being developed is passed on to new generations of researchers and future professionals.
