The aim of the project is the development of new services for the promotion of historical monuments of the Old Town of Chania utilising innovative information and communication technologies (ICT) such as:  A) interactive virtual tour (Interactive Virtual Tour) to monuments of the Old Town of Chania.  The interactive virtual tour (Interactive Virtual Tour) concerns a system of “environmental” projection with interactive content. In this the user – visitor will be guided virtually through a video projectors system that project a single visual content of up to 360 degrees, related to the monuments of the Old Town of Chania and b) mapping technologies (Projection Mapping) that highlight the special characteristics of monuments of buildings.  Projection Mapping technologies concern a special system that converts common objects (buildings, walls, constructions, etc.) into projection surfaces. Through this technology the special features (architecture, materials, etc.) of a monument building of the Old Town of Chania will be highlighted. In addition, the presentation will provide the opportunity to integrate cultural content (e.g. videos, images, etc.) strengthening the image of the monument as well as the content in it giving an impressive experience to the visitor. The installation of this system will take place in one of the monuments of the Old Town of Chania, the building of the Old Customs “Centre of Cultural Activities Mikis Theodorakis”.
