RESTORATION AND PROMOTION OF CAVES AND BUILDINGS OF DIROS N. LACONIA

Diros Caves are located 5 km north of Pyrgos Diros Laconia and consist of three caves, Alepotrypa, Vlychada and Katafygi, which are classified as the most beautiful in the world and are classified as a “national monument”. This project concerns the implementation of interventions for the restoration and promotion of the caves of Alepotrypas and Vlychadas. As part of the project, work will be carried out to upgrade the existing facilities and the surrounding area of the two caves as monuments of cultural, historical and archaeological interest, demolition of the existing Museum and construction of a new building to house the Museum of Prehistory of Mani Caves, as well as actions to enrich the services provided. The project aims to implement the necessary actions to preserve, protect and exploit the sustainable development of the natural and cultural reserve of the region.
